AHIMSA

Ahimsa translates as kindness
and compassion to all living beings.

This kindness begins with yourself.  When you are taking part in the festival programme of workshops and activities please listen to your body.  As teachers, we can demonstrate a yoga pose, a meditation or a practice, but we are unable to feel it for you.  Similarly, ALL of our words are ‘invitations’, not enforced instructions.  If something (ANYTHING) does not feel right for you (your body or your mind) -don’t do it! If you don’t feel comfortable in a workshop space, feel free to leave anytime you would like to, and please let us know.

We have an amazing emotional support team who will be made known to you at the beginning of the festival. They are here to hear you, to listen without judgement and to offer support where needed. They are more than happy to be there for you if and when things come up.  At these kinds of events where we are giving ourselves space to truly see ourselves, things often do… try to be kind to yourself in your process. Give yourself permission to own your own feelings, to express them and to be compassionate to others along the way.

Feel free to offer your compassion outwardly -  connect, ask for or offer to help, invite, listen, share and play together!

Love, fun and fruit loops,

Sarah & Ronnie

  • What's the earliest I can arrive and the latest I can leave?
Arrive from 2pm on our opening day to arrange your tents in the orchard and settle into the land that will hold us for our days together. There will be an opening circle at 6pm, which we ask everyone to attend. There will be a closing circle at 1pm on the final day. We ask you to be saying your final goodbyes by 3pm.
  • What should I bring with me?
Here's your magickal packing list Clothing - clothes that are easy to move in - lots of the workshops, concerts and events will involve dancing. Pack clothes that makes you feel alive and excited by life (colours, face paints and eco-friendly glitter!) Plus, a "festival costume". Our theme this year for our big night of ecstatic dance and Magick will be elves, wizards and giants! Footwear - Bare feet or flip-flops and your most comfortable shoes that are easy to walk in (sturdy ones if you fancy exploring the ancient woodland). Toiletries and a towel for showering. A towel, sarong and/or yoga mat and cushion for workshops. We may want to practice outside where a towel or sarong may actually be more useful than a mat. If there's a chance of damp ground then a mat may be better. A blanket and cosy warm layers for relaxation sessions and for cosying up by the fire at night (even though it WILL be sunny 😉 your stillness in savasana can sometimes mean you may feel a fresh air chill). Your tent! With camping mat, sleeping bag etc. Eye-mask, ear plugs or any other comforting accessories to help you sleep soundly. Natural bug spray (particularly if you like to star gaze in the evenings) Eating and drinking - bring a refillable water bottle, a travel mug with a lid for your hot drinks, reusable camping plate / bowl and cutlery. A camping chair or big cushion for parking your peach 🍑 in the sunshine in between workshops and activities.
  • What facilities will there be?
We have a wonderful collection of workshop spaces, an enchanted woodland, fields galore, toilets and showers.
  • Are there electrical/charging points?
These are available if there is an emergency, but we recommend leaving your digital devices at home so that you are free to play with the real world. Bring a power bank if you know you need to use your phone during the festival.
  • Will there be recycling and waste points?
With every festival meals included in your ticket and bringing your own plate/bowl and cutlery with you means we won't have much rubbish to contend with. So we ask you to take our own rubbish away with you on the Sunday, pop it in a bag and recycle it at home.
  • I’ve never been to a tantra event before, is it right for me?
This event is open to ANYONE who is curious. Whilst it helps to have some kind of understanding of tantra, you are completely welcome to attend if you are a shiny new member of the tribe. Expect yoga, meditation, breathwork, music and dance, new experiences, healing practices, the freedom to express yourself (your laughter, joy, and tears are welcome), the possibility to connect with yourself and others, a strong energy field.
  • TRAVEL - How do I get to the festival by public transport?
We recommend car sharing. We will add you to a community group once you have booked, so you can reach out to fellow mischief makers. If you do decide to come by public transport, Bromsgrove is the closest train station, and Birmingham International Airport would be the best place to plan to land if you are venturing from faraway lands.
  • FOOD - Will there be catering at the festival?
Your meals are included in your festival ticket (all meals will be vegetarian with vegan options). If there are any particular snacks or special teas etc. you'd like to bring along then feel free. You can fill in your dietary requirements when you purchase your ticket.
  • PARKING - Can I park my car?
Yes. There is plenty of space to park on site. We can't accept responsibility for your car left unattended.
  • What is your policy on drugs and alcohol?
Mischief and Magick festival is a consciously sober event. We would like our festival space to be a safe space for everyone, and to really give people the opportunity to get ‘into it’, rather than ‘out of it’. If you are seen to be under the influence of drugs and / or alcohol you will be asked to leave the festival site. Hot chocolate and cacao is welcome 😉
